If you haven’t tried turmeric golden milk yet, you’re missing out!
It’s a creamy, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, satisfying, hot milk drink that’s filled with many nutrients. Perfect for fall! It requires just 8 ingredients, 1 pot and 5 minutes.
It’s low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fat from the coconut oil, which makes the turmeric more available for our bodies to absorb because it is fat-soluble.
To sweeten your golden milk, you can add a spoonful of maple syrup, coconut sugar, or a dash of stevia or monk fruit sweetener (the last two are both plant-based and contain zero calories)
Did you know that regular use of turmeric can decrease bloat and aid the digestive process? Turmeric is a very powerful spice that is an anti-inflammatory. There are many ways to add it to savory dishes like stews, soups and sautéed vegetables, but I love making this simple recipe as an afternoon snack or pick me up pre or post workout.
It’s creamy, comforting, turmeric-infused, perfectly sweet and super-healthy and delicious.
5-Minute Golden Milk
Makes 2 Servings
1 1/2 cups coconut milk (canned or from a carton)
1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 1/2 teaspoons ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon coconut oil
A pinch of ground black pepper
Sweetener of choice (maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia)
In a small saucepan, add all of the ingredients together and whisk to combine. Heat until hot to the touch, but not boiling, about 4 minutes. Turn off heat, and taste to adjust flavor. Serve immediately, dividing between two glasses. Best when served fresh, although any leftovers can be reheated on the stovetop.
