Summer is here!

I had to share one of my daughter’s favorite popsicle recipes.

Why not set the tone for a healthy summer with treats like these?

You don’t always have to give in to sweet treats with artificial coloring, preservatives and tons of added sugar.

Chocolate Popsicles
Makes about 4-5  popsicles (double recipe if you want more)

2 bananas
1/2 cup coconut milk (from the can)
2-3 Tbs. dark cocao powder
Natural sweetener if desired (agave, stevia, honey.)

Blend all ingredients in a blender or Vitamix.
Take mixture and fill  popsicle molds.
Insert the tops/sticks and freeze well. (at least 4 hours)

If you don’t have time to make your own popsicles, here are a couple brands of popsicles that I like (or I should say my daughter likes) and I feel good about.

These will save you time, without sacrificing your health. Check your local health food store or Whole Foods freezer sections.

1. Smooze made with coconut milk and fruit

They are rich in Vitamin C and contain no high fructose corn syrup, no preservatives, no cholesterol, no trans fat, no artificial flavors and Smooze is vegan/dairy free and gluten free.

2. We also enjoy these Chocolate Banana Pops  I found at Whole Foods that contain just a few ingredients, including banana and dark chocolate.

Happy summer!
