As an ex-sugar-addict, I love when I come across a recipe that is naturally sweet and satisfying, like this smoothie, that I found on detoxinista.com.

It’s just in time for winter to help satisfy any sweet cravings around the holidays, especially when refined sweet treats are everywhere you turn.

The dates give this smoothie the perfect sweetness, and the healthy omega-3 fatty acids from the chia seeds and hemp seeds, will not only energize you, but keep you feeling full longer to prevent mindless snacking in-between meals.

Free of refined sugar and dairy, this is perfect for a quick breakfast, or afternoon snack.

Kids will love it, too!

Cozy Winter Smoothie

Serves 1

1 cup almond milk

2 tablespoons chia seeds

1 tablespoon hemp seeds

2 to 3 Medjool dates, pitted

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of ground nutmeg

Pinch of ground cloves

Handful of ice cubes

 

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender or Vitamix and blend until smooth.
