Rejuvenate your skin from the inside out

I don’t know about you, but my skin is ready for some spring cleaning. It was feeling a bit dull and dry. I could have gotten a facial, but instead I increased my beauty foodsmade sure I got at least 7 hours of sleep each night for the past week, plus I added in a couple other beauty secrets that I want to share with you.

In just one short week, I’ve got my glow back from the inside out. You can, too!

Here are my quick and easy tips for glowing skin:

1. Use a gentle facial scrub at night
I found this one at Whole Foods for $12. It’s a gentle exfoliator with jojoba beads and borage oil which is a natural oil that restores moisture and smoothness to dry, sensitive and damaged skin. I LOVE how soft and bright my skin feels afterwards.

2. Moisturize with coconut oil (yup, the kind that you cook with) 
I put this oil onto my face right after exfoliating. Choose an unrefined, organic coconut oil. I like Nutiva or Nature’s Way brands. I keep one jar in my kitchen and one in my bathroom.

This oil is a natural and safe skin moisturizer, that doesn’t leave skin greasy or slimy once absorbed, plus it contains antibacterial and antimicrobial richness that make it a wonderful anti-aging moisturizer.
It’s safe to use on kids, too, after bath. My daughter loves using it and occasionally dips her finger in the jar and eats it (which is fine with me since it’s all pure ingredients)

3 Next, amp up on alkaline foods

Alkaline forming foods include most fruits, green vegetables, seeds and nuts. These are detoxifying, super foods that assist the body in getting rid of toxins and promote better overall health. Acid forming foods include meat, fish, poultry, cheese, eggs, sugar, processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, grains and legumes. These foods are best in moderation. It’s all about balance, but if you’ve been enjoying too much caffeine or sugar lately for quick energy, and your skin is suffering because of it, here are some easy and delicious ways to boost your alkalinity today for a brighter complexion:

Drink a green juice or green smoothie
Make these drinks a part of your daily routine and glow from the inside out. This is my favorite go-to green smoothie that you can easily make at home or take with you on-the-go. Greens give us that life-force energy (since greens grow in the sunshine) that hydrate our cells making us radiate from within.

Drink lemon water first thing in the morning
Make this drink before you even have your first sip of coffee. Enjoy it hot or cold. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning helps the body restore and regenerate, and will improve your digestion and complexion, and any puffiness, especially if you’ve had a large dinner the night before.

That’s easy enough, right? Make these things a part of your daily routine, just like making your bed or brushing your teeth, and you will glow, look well-rested, and years younger.
